Elder Community Service – The Altiora Challenge

THE ALTIORA SERVICE CHALLENGE

Thanks for your interest in participating in the Altiora Service Challenge.  This challenge is for an elite group of Elder students who are aiming to strive for higher things in the area of community service – investing more time, participating in more events, communicating more effectively, and leading by example.

We have officially begun the Altiora Challenge with 50 students taking the Challenge.  The Challenge officially began on Sat, Sep 27 and concludes Thu, Apr 30.  We can still accept students interested in taking the challenge, so CLICK HERE to register.

Challengers are asked to…

  • COMMIT: Earn community service hours during the challenge period.
  • SERVE: Volunteer in our Periodic Service Programs & One Time Events.
  • COMMUNICATE: Check your email and listen to (or read) announcements.*
  • LEAD: Invite friends to participate in any of the activities with you. Note: This must be a friend not taking the Challenge.
  • PARTICIPATE: Join us for our periodic Altiora Challenge meetings this year (during Flex)

* Communication Test: Periodically, Mr. Forman will send you an email to read or have an announcement made over the PA.  After you read it or hear it, you must respond back to Mr. Forman know. If you don’t respond in the proper time frame you get a strike (X).  Three strikes and you are out of the challenge.

The standings and leaderboard will be posted on this page towards the end of the First Semester, then monthly during the second semester.

We will send out periodic Progress Reports for you to fill out.  This will help you (and us) keep track of how you are doing with the Challenge.  You can always contact your Altiora Challenge Captain (see roster above for your Captain’s name) and he can help you see how you are doing.  You can also reach out to Mr. Forman.

You are not required to participate in any specific periodic or one-time events.  Based upon the level you are aiming for – Bronze, Silver, or Gold – you have different requirements.  Refer to the chart for more information.

YES.  All ESLC Leaders are participating in the Altiora Challenge and leading a group of Challengers (see Chart).  They are responsible for working directly with you to help you stay connected and coach you to hit your goal.

CELEBRATION AND RECOGNITION

In late April or Early May, we will host a recognition celebration for all of those participants who participated in the Challenge and met the requirements for one of the three levels – Bronze, Silver or Gold.

Additionally, each successful challenger will receive an Altiora Challenge t-shirt, Chick Fil-A lunch, and a special service-related gift.
